Superbowl State Pride

I watched the Super Bowl last night with my roommate, more for the commercials than anything. I played games on my iPad and ate lots of food, while watching commercials and counting down until Glee (and lets be honest, I totally watched the Puppy Bowl for some cute overload). Not very many commercials impressed me, but one in particular stood out to me.. as just amazing. It represented Detroit and my state SO well. We may have a high unemployment rate and things have not gone our way, and have a not great reputation. I feel like a lot of people who aren't from Michigan just don't get Detroit/my state. But, the people from Michigan have immense pride - and this commercial shows it.

Check it out. I love that our celebrities, especially Eminem and Kid Rick, use their fame to help voice their pride for our state.

Also, I loved that both the Steelers and Green Bay have former UMichers on their team. Even more state pride!

Michigan's Bowling for Gators!

I couldn't resist a celebratory post; The Wolverine's are going bowling on January 1st! I'm still in shock that after a pretty dismal season, we made it for a New Years Day game. But, I'm ready to see Denard Robinson and the rest of the team take on Mississippi State.  Until then, I'm counting the days until Christmas, and then ready for watching my team in action (for what is hopefully Rich Rodriguez's last game, but that it is an entirely different story.). GO BLUE!

Weekend Recap

While my Wolverines could not get their act together to defeat the Spartans (the above photo summarizes how our awful defense kept being left in MSU's dust!), this was still a great weekend. I'm turning over a new leaf and trying to appreciate the great things in life, pushing the negatives aside. In the past I've been one to dwell on things I cannot change, but I'm starting to focus on what I can change. Changing my attitude, for one. Eating healthier, spending less money on frivolous items, starting to exercise. Make an effort to be more social. Stop living in the past. Smile more, frown less. Little things then when piled together, will make a huge difference!

Reasons this weekend was fabulous:
  1. My new job at the most amazing PR firm, starts tomorrow, and I am so unbelievably excited. This factor alone would have made my weekend.
  2. Whilst cleaning out  my bathroom counter, I came across a huge stash of money that I probably hid months ago. I'm low on funds right now, so this made my day!
  3. I made a pretty amazing buffalo chicken dip yesterday, and despite the high caloric count, is absolutely delicious.
  4. My parents are just amazing, and sent me a congrats edible arrangement's fruit basket. My Mom remembered me saying I've always wanted one, months ago.
  5. Halloween is almost here - I have festive cookies to make :)
  6. I watched endless amounts of How I Met Your Mother, which never fails to make me happy!
How were your weekends?

Excited for fall

I love fall, and this year, I feel like it honestly could not come soon enough. This summer has been hot and sticky and I am ready to retire my shorts and flip flops. I'm counting down the days until I can break out my boots worn with leggings or skinny jeans, my trench coats, and no longer have to order iced coffees. I can't wait until leaves start to change colors and I can sleep with my windows open instead of stuffy air conditioner. I'm dying for my TV shows to start back up (hello, Gossip Girl, Grey's Anatomy and How I Met Your Mother!) What I really can't wait for, is college football and NHL hockey to start. Yes, I am a total nerd completely obsessed with "my" two teams. I'll be honest, they're the only two teams I care about and I have a Slingbox (best invention ever) connected to my parent's TV so I can catch my games.

How gorgeous are these Sam Edelman boots? If I had an extra $200 in my pocket (the joys of an intern salary = no money), I'd be buying these!

Already planned next weekend around this! Thanks for the reminder, Google!

Hello, fall in the District!

What are you most looking forward to for fall?
